New purchasers tend to be investors snapping up bargains in the foreclosure market. Whether this is sustainable is questionable, with further defaults likely from Option ARM and Alt A mortgages. In general, the Texas markets are doing quite well compared to the national average. The Houston real estate market is doing particularly well given the strength of the oil and gas industry.
