Contributed by SAH Admin on June 20, 2009
Although median house prices have fallen 13.8% nationally in the first quarter of 2009 compared with Q1 2008, San Antonio has fared much better. The median house price in San Antonio’s Metropolitan district in Q1 2009 was $148,300 compared with $149,800 in the same quarter of 2008, as reported by the National Association of Realtors. This represents a drop of just 1%. Other areas of Texas report drops of 4.7% in Dallas- Fort Worth – Arlington and 6.7% in the Houston – Baytown – Sugar Land area. First time buyers accounted for half of all purchases with families taking advantage of lower prices on foreclosed properties.
