About Stone Oak

Stone Oak is a thriving, master-planned community in San Antonio. It is located off Route 281 and outside of Loop 1604. Much of the city’s wealthy families reside in Stone Oak, along with the neighboring communities of Terrell Hills, Olmos Park and Alamo Heights.

Stone Oak was developed in the 1980s after the stock market crashed. Over 4,300 acres of land were purchased at that time and developed into the master-planned community of Stone Oak.

The idea of Stone Oak was to create a community that was all encompassing – meaning that it should also have offices, churches, schools, banks, restaurants, and everything else the residents of the community may need. In fact, North Central Baptist Hospital is located right in the middle of Stone Oak.

The community of Stone Oak is still flourishing to this day, and it is now known for its wealth and top schools.

Stone Oak San Antonio boasts many shopping areas and business parks, including the Village at Stone Oak, Rolling Oaks Mall, The Shops at La Cantera, The Rim and Northwoods. The Shops at La Cantera include many high-end retailers, such as Dillards, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s.

There is a wide variety of Stone Oak real estate for every budget. Stone Oak homes for sale can start at $150,000 for a modest, three-bedroom home to the millions for a luxurious estate.

Commute

Major roadways into the city include Interstates 35, 10, 410 and U.S. Route 281, all of which allow for an easy commute from Stone Oak to downtown. In fact, most residents of Stone Oak enjoy a commute of less than 20 minutes.

Schools

School District: North East Independent School District or Comal Independent School District

Schools: Known for having some of the top schools in San Antonio, Stone Oak presents excellent educational environments for its students. In fact, many families specifically move to Stone Oak for its school districts. Its elementary schools include Wilderness Oak Elementary, Canyon Ridge Elementary, Stone Oak Elementary, and Hardy Oak Elementary. The middle school and high school are Bush Middle School and Reagan High School respectively.
